The magic of Fruits - Achieve glowing skin with Mother Nature’s little helpers
Fresh fruits have all the vitamins required for healthy skin as well as it contains high water and fibre content which helps with digestion. Here are some fruity remedies to achieve and maintain glowing, ageless skin.
Apricots - For a tighter, firmer skin. Apply the pulp and the juice of a ripe apricot to your face and neck and leave on for about 20 minutes. Wash off with cold water. They assist in lightening stretch marks and smoothening wrinkles.
Apples – To delay the onset of wrinkles, use grated apples as a regular face pack. Apples have a firming quality. Rubbing a slice of apple on your teeth is also helpful in whitening your teeth and making them sparkle.
Amla (Indian Gooseberry) Hair Tonic
Massage amla oil to hair and scalp regularly for thick and lustrous hair. Leave on overnight and wash with herbal shampoo for best results.
Almonds – A great remedy for under eye circles. Mix one teaspoon of almond oil with ½ teaspoon fresh lemon juice. Apply under your eyes and leave for 20-25 minutes, this reduces dark circles. Almonds also enhances the complexion and brings a glow on to the face. Mix equal amounts of almond oil with honey and apply on face regularly.
Avocadoes – has a soothing effect on hands and feet. It also revitalises dull hair and prevents the aging process on skin. Mash the pulp of avocado and mix with some curd. Apply on face, hands and feet.
Bananas - To nourish and moisturise the skin, make a concoction of 1 mashed ripe banana and rose water. Used regularly as a facemask. To prevent wrinkles. Make a mixture of one ripe banana mashed and equal quantities of olive oil or coconut oil. Use as face pack daily.
Coconuts – For thick lustrous hair, heat coconut oil and massage throughly into scalp. Leave overnight and wash with shampoo the following day. Nourishes hair from root to tips.
To eliminate scars apply coconut water on face and neck.
Grapes – apply the pulp of grapes on your face and leave on 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water. This remedy is great for achieving healthy, glowing and blemish free complexion.
Lemons
To give body and shine to your hair, mix together juice of one lemon in a mug of cold water. After shampoo, use it for a final rinse. Cut a lemon in half and rub on entire face and leave. Leave on for 30 minutes and rinse off with luke warm water. This is good for oily skin. Lemon also acts as a bleaching agent. It lighten the skin.
Oranges- moisturises and tones dry skin. Mix together one tablespoon oranges juice with ½ tablespoon honey and apply on face. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and then wash off. You can also add one table spoon of fullers earth (multani mitti) to it. Apply plain fresh orange juice on your face for a more rosy complexion.
Papayas-Mash a piece of ripe papaya and apply on face and neck. Leave for 15-20 minutes and then wash off. It helps soften and remove dead cells and brings lustre to the face. It also helps in curing pimples. In addition to this in prevents wrinkles. Grate some raw papaya. Squeeze out the juice. Apply juice regularly on the face to get rid of blemishes.
Pineapples for strong healthy nails-Mix together four tablespoons pineapple juice, one tablespoon cider vinegar and four tablespoons egg yolk. Mix everything well and message nails and cuticles with it. Leave it on for 20-25 minutes. |
